At the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat (FEM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), innovation is deeply rooted in the integration of Naqli (revealed knowledge) and Aqli (intellectual reasoning). This unique approach reflects USIM’s mission to produce holistic researcher who are not only intellectually competent but also spiritually grounded.
We believe that true innovation emerges when faith guidance and human intellect work hand in hand. Thus, our academic and research efforts are anchored in Qur’anic principles, Hadith, and classical Islamic scholarship that guide ethical and moral frameworks in economics and finance which adopted thorugh modern theories, empirical research, data analytics, and contemporary methodologies that drive progress and problem-solving.
By harmonising these two domains of knowledge, FEM fosters:
Islamic economic models that are not only efficient but also just and inclusive
Shariah-compliant financial innovations such as Islamic fintech, digital zakat platforms, and waqf-based community development.
Critical thinking and ethical decision-making, ensuring that economic growth aligns with the higher objectives of Shariah (Maqasid al-Shariah).
Solution-driven research addressing local and global socio-economic challenges from both Islamic and scientific perspectives.
Innovation at FEM is more than technological advancement, it is a continuous effort to reimagine and reform economic practices in line with Islamic worldview, using both divine wisdom and intellectual inquiry as guiding lights.
Through collaborations, digital transformation, and research-centered programs, we aim to produce research and innovations that not only contribute to the economy but uplift the ummah and serve humanity at large.
